Memorial Maintenance

We have many years experience in adding additional inscriptions onto headstones in cemeteries and churchyards throughout Shetland. Contact us for further details or download a maintenance form from the forms page, complete it and return to us. We will then view the stone, take a rubbing to match Fonts and spacing then send you a full quotation for the work requested.

We mainly use a three part epoxy paint which has been developed for headstones. this will last considerably longer than the likes of acrylic or enamel used by many other memorial masons.

We also recommend our gold gild epoxy paint rather than gilding as it will stand up better in Shetlands climate.

Headstones like anything else, will need cleaning from time to time to remove grime, slime and litchin. We carry out a three part cleaning process and in most cases can leave the stone looking like new. See the pictures below for some examples.

You will often see headstones leaning badly, which have fallen over or been securely supported for safety. This can be due to a number of issues, such as poor foundations, ground movement etc

re-setting now requires a permit from the council and stones have to be re-installed according to certain standards.

We ensure that all these standards are met.

 All installations require to meet British Standard 8415, the British Register of Memorial Mason 'Blue Book' and the Councils own conditions. A permit is required from the council prior to installation, which we can take care of for you.

Whilst our main aim is to sell headstones from our showroom, catalogue or special order from our suppliers, we occasional make bespoke memorials.
